Email Sanity: How to Clear Your Inbox When You’re Drowning

The beauty of an empty inbox is a thing to behold. It is calming, peaceful and wonderful.

An inbox that is overflowing with actions, urgent calls for responses, stuff to read … it’s chaos, it’s stressful, it’s overwhelming.

My own goal each and every day is to arrive at “Inbox Zero”, that is, no emails in your inbox. Click through to the Inbox Zero site to watch a video presentation that Merlin Mann did at Google on the topic.

At work, I’ve integrated the 3 mailbox approach outlined by Gina Tripani on Smarterware, Control Your Email Inbox with Three Folders. What I like about Gina’s approach is the creation of a “waiting” folder. This is critical and key for my professional life.

Email out of control? Check out the links above and feel what it’s like to have an empty inbox.
